A Phrase that is Overused and Betrays a Lack of Original Thought

September Writing Challenge - Prompt #28:

Cliche

Time flies when you’re having fun!

It sure does. I started blogging when I was 21. In four years, I’ll have been blogging for half my life! That's kind of crazy to think about.

You can’t judge a book by its cover.

But a lot of the time, you really can. I know that when a book cover looks like these:

There's a pretty good chance I'm not going to like the book.

I'm sure there's a term for this type of book cover, but I don't know what it is, so I usually call them, "The cartoon-y ones."

One man’s junk is another man’s treasure.

Sometimes I’m the one getting rid of stuff, and sometimes I’m the one finding the treasures. Yesterday I found this wreath at the thrift store for $2, and since I’m a total wreath junkie (I can’t be the only one, surely!) I’m very excited about its Halloween-y potential!

I wasn’t born yesterday.

I was born long enough ago that I've been able to see fashion repeat itself. In fact, I told my niece the other day that I'm pretty sure I donated the sweater vest she was wearing to the thrift store in 1999.

Now where do I sign the petition to bring back 90's bangs?

If the shoe fits...

I have wide feet. The shoes never fits.

Check out those exquisite tan lines.
