It’s October (and ten other random facts)

Fact #1: Four of the six of us have taken a turn with a tummy bug in the past week. It’s been many years since we passed something around like this, but this time we dropped like flies - three of us all on the same day, a few hours apart. The fourth was a few days ahead of the rest of us.

Fact #2: The other day was “dress like Adam Sandler” day at the high school. Nicky went as the Waterboy, and Daisy was going to go as Happy Gilmore, but she was sick and ended up staying home.

Fact #3: Turned out, Nicky missed picture day back in September, and Adam Sandler Day was the last chance to get his school photo taken, so guess who is Bobby Boucher in his senior yearbook?

Fact #4: I’m reading a book in which a character has eye surgery that requires her eyelids to be sewn shut for a while. I’m the kind of person who has to hold my breath during underwater scenes in movies, so of course I had to close my eyes and pretend they were sewn shut, and can I just say… blinking is wonderful. Please take a minute to enjoy a few good blinks. The thought of not being able to blink is very distressing. I’ve been blinking rapidly and incessantly in celebration of my eyelid mobility. Oh, to blink! Never take it for granted!

Fact #5: The other day Eva had a hot dog bun with Nutella for breakfast. At my house, we are winning.

Fact #6: Nicky and Daisy are in the thick of musical rehearsals at the high school. Nicky practices day and night - he sings all of his songs in the shower. He is working so hard, but he loves it.

Fact #7: Daisy, on the other hand, hates everything and comes home from rehearsal ornery and yells at everyone. Raising three moody girls is no joke.

Fact #8: I say this every year, but I can’t believe we haven’t had Halloween yet. I feel like it’s been “Halloween” forever! I’m sick of it.

Halloween activity #286

Fact 9: This year I planted 8 pumpkin plants, and these two white baby jacks were our entire pumpkin harvest!

Fact # 10: We just pulled out all our remaining plants today. It was such a weird gardening year. I was harvesting melons still last week!
