The One About Miranda

One of my favorite actresses is Miranda Hart. If you haven’t had the honor of experiencing Miranda, you can find her in Call the Midwife as the lovable and endearing Chummy or as Miranda in her British sitcom, Miranda.

In many ways, she reminds me of a female Mr. Bean, but she also reminds me a lot of my friend, Lynsie. In Miranda, she often finds herself in the silliest predicaments - such as having to take her shirt off to try to eliminate width and squeeze through a gate after getting locked in a park at night. These are the kinds of things that happen to my friend Lynsie ALL. THE. TIME. So I find myself laughing all the more while watching Miranda as I think, “This is totally something that would happen to Lynsie!” And, of course, it was Lynsie who introduced me to Miranda to begin with.

I recently found out that Miranda Hart has written some books, so I used an Audible credit and downloaded her newest book I Haven’t Been Entirely Honest with You. I’m just a little disappointed in her narration because she lacks her usual Miranda “pep” and is just sort of… reading… but other than that, I’m finding it delightful. She is funny and poignant, and while a lot of what she has to say isn’t new, I’m enjoying hearing it from her

I’m now watching Miranda for the third time. If you need a light, humorous show, go look it up. I know it’s on BritBox, but I’m not sure if it’s currently streaming elsewhere (google says it’s on Freevee, and it’s also showing on Amazon Primer but that’s my the Christmas specials). It’s rated TV-PG, but it’s British, so… there are a lot more penis jokes than a PG rating should have. It’s a fun one, though! The Brits make some great TV.
